My wife and I were lucky enough to get away from “it all” Saturday night. Thanks to the generosity of my mother and sister who sported afor us and babysat for our twin babies and three year old.
Before having children I had always heard how hard it is to find time for anything other than changing diapers or other parental duties. I had always heard that is critical to make sure my wife and it scheduled time just to focus on us. Now that I’m a father of three children I couldn’t agree more. Midnight feedings, diaper changes, etc. literally takes up all the time one has available. Even if it’s just a few hours to go shopping or to a movie or dinner, it’s so important to make the time to just focus on each other. In our case, we went to Fenway Park in Boston, home of the Boston Red Sox, to watch my alma mater, the University of Massachusetts vs University of Vermont in hockey. After watching UMass win in overtime, we had dinner at Faneuil Hall and met up with friends at a local pub before adjourning to the’ hotel and getting a good night sleep.
To quote Ferris Bueller: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” He got that right.
